Erica Shockey

Interviewed by Elizabeth Townsend Gard

Date January 2019

Erica talks to us applique, designing patterns, and her quilting life.  She talks about spontaneous life.  Next time we are going to talk about Google Analytics and how to create a tagging system for monetization.

Erica’s curiosity has taken her all over the world, from fairytale Italian villages to the misty jungles of Africa, but she calls Atlanta home base. By day she plays an integral part in researching a cure for HIV/Aids. In her free time, she’s an avid creator with over 15 years of sewing, graphic design, and illustration.

From conception to completion, she has an intense passion for the process of creating textile art. Her work has been featured in Maxim’s Holiday Gift Guide and Make Modern Magazine. She bases her work on personal experience in traveling the world and considers each piece a simple expression of complex thought.

She maintains a blog at and you can follow her on Instagram under @needlecraftnomad.
