I met Joan at a quilt retreat in Vermont at the Strong House Inn in Vergennes, VT. She was very nice, kind, and helpful. Then, one night, she had a crisis with her quilt when she put it on the design board. I came down a little while into the crisis. She couldn't decide if she liked it, what she wanted to do. I can't quite explain, but it was an important moment. I watched someone struggle in front of others. And she came through. Most recently, she posted beautiful pictures of the finished quilt. I think we all feel that way about quilts -- a crisis point. Hers was at a retreat. And later, we became Facebook friends. She is now part of our Quilting Army.
